LPG cylinder rates have been revised because of the month of May 2025, which has affected both domestic and commercial consumers. Oil marketing companies have slashed the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹14.50 from May 1, 2025, yet the prices of domestic LPG cylinders remain constant.

New Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices

The new rates for a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder are as much as ₹1,747.50 in Delhi. Moving west, the price tacks on ₹1,699 in Mumbai, ₹1,851.50 in Kolkata, and ₹1,906 in Chennai, respectively. The cut has given relief to restaurants, hotels, and smaller enterprises depending on commercial gas cylinders.

Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Stable

Prices remain unchanged as far as domestic LPG cylinders are concerned. A 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi is priced at ₹853. Gas Prices Under Ujjwala Yojana

The price for a 14.2 kg cylinder has been fixed at ₹553 for the Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries. The intention of the scheme is to provide gas to the low-income groups at a nominal rate.

Why The Price Is Changed

LPG prices are dictated by the international price of crude oil, the costs of transportation and government policies. The main space reason for the decrease in prices of the commercial cylinder in May of 2025 is the drop in LPG prices in the international market. However domestic gas prices are steady, not providing any relief for common consumers.

Future Prospects

The government has now announced that LPG prices will be reviewed every fortnight. This could therefore see the changes being reflected on day-to-day basis by consumers.Repeated changes in domestic gas prices could also take place if oil prices fall further internationally.

Conclusion

Commercial consumers find some reprieve in the hike of LPG cylinder prices in May 2025; however, domestic consumers are still feeling the pinch of price rises. Prices of gas are quite affordable under the Ujjwala scheme, but have not been given benefit to the ordinary man. There are likely to be some price amendments in the months to come.
